Membrane-based Water Treatment Systems

Akwa-Worx designs, builds and delivers a wide range of water and waste water treatment systems that make use of modern membrane technologies.

Depending on the contaminants to be removed, and the product water quality desired by the client, these systems may use the following types of membranes:

  • Ultrafiltration (UF) membranes
  • Nanofiltration (MF) membranes
  • Reverse Osmosis (RO) membranes
  • Membrane bioreactor

Membranes provide a physical barrier to contaminants. While water molecules are passing through tiny pores in the membranes, contaminants that are larger than the pores are rejected. The different types of membranes come along with a different pore size.

The water treatment systems by Akwa-Worx are delivered fully integrated, including pre- or post-treatment process steps, if required. The systems can be packaged or containerized, and delivered in a modular format, for easy scale up of the water treatment facility.

De.mem offers a range of proprietary membrane technologies originally developed at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU), one of the leading institutions in water technology-related research world-wide.
